Design Elevation

Anthropic use-case skill pattern that packages design interrogation, a 400+ technique catalog, reference library, and elevation protocol so visual outputs stop looking like first drafts.

01

Overview

Design Elevation comes from Anthropic’s official Claude use case “Elevate Claude's design using skills.” You (or skill-creator) build a skill with SKILL.md plus reference files: DESIGN_INTERROGATION.md, TECHNIQUE_CATALOG.md, REFERENCE_LIBRARY.md, ELEVATION_PROTOCOL.md, and DESIGN_PHILOSOPHY.md. Once installed, asking for presentations, dashboards, HTML artifacts, or PDFs triggers design-director behavior—functional draft → interrogation → technique selection → polished output—without re-pasting design briefs every chat. Ideal custom skill when TypeUI/frontend-design still feel generic for your taste.

Work with LimeDock

Using this skill? LimeDock can wire it into a durable automation you own.

Skills show what's possible. LimeDock builds and runs the owned marketing, sales, and ops automations around them.

We sell owned automations for SaaS teams — live workflows that plug into Slack, CRM, and your internal platform — not just a skill list.

Installation guide

1. Open the Anthropic use case and run it in Claude (Skills + code execution enabled), or recreate with skill-creator. 2. Save the generated `design-elevation/` folder (SKILL.md + reference files) into Claude Skills / `~/.claude/skills/design-elevation/`. 3. Enable the skill; it should auto-activate on visual deliverables.

Evolve the reference files with your brand exemplars over time.

04

How to use it

Request visual work (dashboard, deck, HTML page). Optionally ask to show functional vs elevated versions. Combine with MCP (e.g. Drive) to elevate existing files. Expand TECHNIQUE_CATALOG for domain needs (fintech charts, etc.).

05

Example prompts

  • Create a quarterly performance dashboard using design elevation—show functional then elevated.
  • Apply design elevation to this Drive presentation and tighten typography/spacing.
  • Add fintech data-viz techniques to the elevation catalog, then redesign our metrics page.
  • Interrogate this landing page draft with the elevation checklist and ship the polish pass.
06

Use cases and examples

  • Elevate generic Claude dashboards
  • Polish HTML artifacts to portfolio quality
  • Design-director pass on slide decks
  • Encode Stripe/Linear/Bauhaus references once
  • Personalize taste via iterative skill edits
07

Prerequisites

  • Claude.ai or Claude Code with Skills enabled
  • Code execution / file creation for skill authoring
  • skill-creator helpful but optional
  • Willingness to maintain reference files as taste evolves
08

Tips

  • Progressive disclosure keeps the 400+ techniques cheap until needed.
  • Update the skill from recurring feedback (bolder color, denser layouts).
  • Pair with brand-guidelines so elevation respects brand, not just “taste.”
  • Ask to see the interrogation once—then hide it for day-to-day speed.
